I decided to go ahead and read the Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. So far, so good.

Lately I've been doing more writing than read. This song is on my writing soundtrack. I never get tired of hearing it. I really like the official video but for some reason it won't let me upload it here.
Sam Sparro - Black and Gold

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
I figured I would participate today considering its not to difficult of a topic.
Top Ten Trends You'd Like To See More of/Less of:
Less weak females leads. More strong women.
It's nice to be rescued but I would like to read more about girl/women who start out strong not gain power halfway through the novel.
Less umpteenth book series. More stand alone books.
I'm greedy I always want to know more, read more and find out more about characters I get attached too but by the 5th or 6th book I'm usually bored. Trilogies are good but anything longer is a waste of paper. Speaking of paper...
Less ebooks. More real books.
I understand that ebooks are super cheap and easy but I like to turn pages and view covers, I even like to bend the page corners to mark my place.
Less paranormal. More real life.
I like getting lost in imaginary worlds with strong creatures and beautiful beings but I'm still in the real world and I like reading about strong people without paranormal powers.
Less online book shopping. More real bookstores.
I really hate seeing all the bookstores closing. Just like with the closing of all the blockbusters and neighborhood video rental stores, I feel like we are missing out. Maybe I'm nostalgic or old fashion or even slightly anti-technology but to me there is nothing better than browsing through stacks and stacks of books, then renting a DVDs (or VHS) from a kind old man at the video store next door, grabbing a pizza and hanging on the couch with friends. Sounds perfect to me!

I love Black & Gold. It's a fun song to dance to. Great pick!
I agree whole heartedly with your list--especially having more strong females who are not defined by their vampire or popular boyfriend.
I take it being bitten is a good thing in the book? Interesting teaser.

I've been considering reading those books. Good to hear that it's good so far.

Although it didn't make my list, I want more stand-alone books too. It's hard to commit to a long series when there are so many books I want to read.
I'm with you on the "less paranormal!"
Great teaser. Really need to finish the VA series.
Sally.
