I personally love the songs in movies and shows. It definitely adds a level of emotion that words cannot convey. In fact as I'm writing, I hear the music in the background. This weekend I was re-watching the first season of the O.C. (I got the complete first season for $5 at the game store) and this song played on the Chrismukkah episode. I've heard it on other shows and movies but I never knew what it was. Then I heard it again on the Gears of Wars Xbox 360 commercial so I scribbled down a few lyrics and googled it and this song came up.

I could listen to this song over and over again. Love it.
